On February 12th 2008, during Hadassah Foundation’s mission in Israel, a Grantee Meeting was arranged on Supportive Community’s premises.
Members of the Hadassah Foundation Board met with almost 40 grantee representatives and discussed issues relating to women’s empowerment in different fields, including the benefits of a multicultural approach for women entrepreneurs' micro businesses promotion.
The meeting was accompanied by an amazingly delicious kosher lunch, provided by Supportive Community program graduate Olga Kules – a Russian kosher caterer and Olya La café’s owner.
“Our projects are varied in nature and the populations are varied in nature, ranging from orthodox to secular,” said Linda Altshuler, Director of the Hadassah Foundation to The Jerusalem Netletter, on a recent visit to Israel.
Jackie Ellenson, Chair of the Board of Directors, was also moved by the visit. “There are so many reasons we get involved. It’s really incredible. We reach groups of women who want to change their lives and the lives of their families. These programs give them an opportunity to have a stronger sense of themselves. It gives them a set of skills to be transferred to the house and the community.”
